Rats of the sky or pieces of art, the painted pigeons in Venice are working hard to change the public’s perception of themselves in St. Mark’s Square, one of the most famous squares in the world.
Artists Julian Charriere and Julius von Bismarck spray-painted the feathered foes vivid colours, in a controversial piece of art work for the project ‘Some pigeons are more equal than others’. Still drawing in massive audiences, some of the fame hungry coloured pigeons are sticking around, lapping up their 15 minutes of fame.
